Having just sorted the National Grid rights issue situation Inow find I’m getting correspondence on the IDS (Royal Mail) acquisition proposal.

Has any ‘small holding’ (less than 250) shareholders got a view on the wayforward or will this get accepted/rejected irrespective of what the lessershareholders decide?

i too have had some correspondence , but its very confusing ,i think only someone with a degree would be able to understand it.
not quite sure whether to hold onto them or sell them,
worried as i dont want to lose the shares
sorry , my reply doesnt really help you , but i just posted to inform you that you are not the only one with this predicament.

perhaps someone more knowledgable would be able to shed the light on this issue.

I got the impression that the major institutions, holding mostof the stock, will decide this one. I don’t think anything I do will influence theoutcome one way or the other.

It’s just I can’t see what happens if I do nothing. Usually, you get an option.

I don't know how accurate this is but to give you an idea of what you're up against. I haven't been following this very closely but I think Vesa is the entity that's making the bid. I think you're along for the ride.

You have an offer of £.3.70 a share if you dont sell and the deal is rejected they may come back with a better offer maybe £4 ish if the major shareholders sell and they get above 75% your shares will be sold due takeover ether way you wont lose the shares if you do nothing . Just remember these shares have hit highs of £6 and as low as £1.20ish . In my view the natural value of IDS is around £4.50 Do your own research . Are you an Ex R/m employee ?

No. Not an Ex R/M employee. Just got the maximum allocation at the time of the flotation.

When Shares were first sold at £3.30 hit £6 shortly after a few dividends have been paid since then .Selling now at £3.70 is very small gain if you need the money now .otherwise hold and see if they come back with an better offer or walk away and if the business cant turn around and get to old highs of £6ish DYOR

The most likely scenario is that the acquisition will go ahead regardless of your decision because the acquirer will secure the bulk of the shares from the big corporate investors and you'll be forced to sell your shares regardless of your wishes. It's happened to me a couple of times and I can't say I liked it but it's how the system works.

      Pretty much as I anticipated.

I missed the peak of £6, saw the price sliding below the IPO price and wrote it off as a bad investment.

Just log on and saw £800 cash waiting for me. I guess that made it up Royal Mail Stock Holding – What to Do? (41)
