“Real Housewives” alum Teddi Mellencamp says her father, rock legend John Mellencamp, has already started planning her burial amid her ongoing cancer battle.
“I just want to make sure you’re going to be in our group family mausoleum,” Teddi recalled her father saying to her on the latest episode of her "Two T’s In A Pod" podcast.
“You’re doing your will right now, so you may as well put it in there,” Teddi recalled her father saying.
Teddi seemingly obliged by telling her co-host Tamra Judge that she would have to travel to Indiana to visit her grave. The 43-year-old also joked about having “hot girls never die” engraved on the tombstone.
This comes roughly a week after Teddi confirmed that she is battling stage 4 cancer. She told Us Weekly that the cancer had spread and doctors found four new tumors.
“I’m fighting for my life, but also for my family’s life and all the people I love,” Teddi told the outlet.
The 43-year-old said in an Instagram post on Feb. 12 that doctors found “multiple tumors” on her brain that they believe had been “growing for at least six months.”
Teddi said in another Instagram post on Feb. 26 that she had four tumors removed, but that her “fight is not over.” She posted a selfie on Feb. 28 with the caption, “Staples out and ready for radiation.”
Teddi revealed in March that she had more tumors than doctors originally thought.
“I have multiple tumors in my brain that weren’t able to be removed via surgery,” the 43-year-old wrote in an Instagram post on March 6.
“I also have two tumors in my lungs. These are all metastases of my melanoma,” Teddi wrote. “The doctors are hopeful that immunotherapy will effectively treat them. I am feeling positive — that I will win this battle, that I got this wig (I like the short hair, just not the bald spots), and that I can remember all of Angelina’s kids’ names.”
Teddi is currently undergoing radiation and immunotherapy. She told Us Weekly that she won’t know her next course of treatment until June 1.
Teddi reflected on her cancer journey in her most recent Instagram post Wednesday.
“What a difference 4 months makes,” she started out.
“Sometimes I am so focused on ‘being strong’ that I forget I am allowed to be sad, cry it out, and feel very alone. I love my kids, friends, and family so much and am forever grateful to them but dang today is one of those days,” Teddi wrote. “If you are having a day where you can’t wait for it to be bedtime so you can start over tomorrow leave me a ❤️ We are not alone."
Teddi was previously diagnosed with stage II melanoma, a type of skin cancer, in October 2022. She shared on Instagram in March 2022 after the cancerous mole was removed.
“This is a reminder to please go get your yearly skin checks,” she wrote at the time. “I am doing my best to stay present and positive as I head to TV today. Grateful that I am busy to keep my mind from racing as I await the results.”
Teddi was on “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” from 2017 to January 2024. She has three children with her ex-husband, Edwin Arroyave, the CEO of a security company. Teddi also has a stepdaughter, Isabella Arroyave.
The couple separated in October 2024 after 13 years of marriage, Us Weekly reported at the time. Teddi also asked her father if the family’s mausoleum would have space for her children.
“Well, there’s going to be the top five and then we’re gonna have little areas around it, and then that’s where everyone’s going to get buried,” Teddi recalled her father saying.
